Frequently Asked Questions About Fertility Consultations at Nicosia Fertility
If you’re under 35 and haven’t conceived after 12 months of regular, unprotected intercourse, or if you’re 35 or older and haven’t conceived after six months, it’s time to consult a specialist. Additionally, if you have a known medical condition that affects fertility or have experienced fertility issues in the past, speaking with a specialist before trying to conceive is highly recommended.
Yes, we strongly encourage both partners to attend. Infertility can stem from male, female, or combined factors, so having both partners present allows for a comprehensive evaluation. Additionally, many fertility treatments involve both partners, and it’s beneficial to address all questions and concerns during the same consultation.
During your first visit, you’ll meet with one of our fertility specialists who will review your medical history and discuss any prior testing or treatments. Based on this information, the doctor will recommend diagnostic tests or treatment options tailored to your unique situation. While some patients leave with a treatment plan, others may need additional testing before a plan is finalized.
We evaluate each case individually, as fertility varies greatly among women. Some women in their early 30s may have diminished ovarian reserve, while others in their early 40s may still have viable options. After testing, we may recommend treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor eggs/embryos. For women who are no longer able to conceive naturally, we also offer options like gestational carriers (surrogates).
Yes, we welcome patients of all body types. While research indicates that maintaining a healthy weight can improve fertility, we understand that weight is only one of many factors affecting reproductive health. If necessary, we can recommend weight management strategies as part of your overall fertility treatment plan.
Insurance coverage for fertility treatments varies depending on your provider and plan. Diagnostic tests and evaluations may be covered, but treatments like IVF are often excluded. We recommend contacting your insurance company to confirm your benefits. At Nicosia Fertility, we also offer financial counseling to help you understand treatment costs and payment options.
For patient privacy and compliance with international medical regulations, we do not correspond via email. Instead, you can contact our office directly or schedule appointments to discuss your case. Our team ensures timely and secure communication to address your questions.
Before your visit, gather any medical records or fertility test results you’ve previously completed and share them with us. Prepare a list of questions you may have about your fertility journey. It’s also helpful to document details about your menstrual cycle, lifestyle, and overall health to provide your doctor with a comprehensive overview.
The consultation typically lasts 30–45 minutes. If additional tests, such as ultrasounds or bloodwork, are performed, your visit may take up to 90 minutes. We aim to provide ample time for thorough evaluations and to address any questions you have.
We understand that schedules can change. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your appointment may incur a small fee, which can be refunded if you reschedule and attend a new appointment. This policy ensures we can accommodate other patients efficiently.
